Hall of Fame SAMMYS at The Dinosaur BBQ.

The following article was provided by our classmate, Rick Gravelding.
Thursday night, March 3rd, 2015, the SAMMY's (Syracuse area music awards), Hall of Fame Awards Dinner was held.  This is a separate ceremony, held the night before they hand out SAMMY's for record, band etc. of the year awards at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse.  This was at the "Upstairs at the Dinosaur", and was sold out at $25.00 a head.  Two of my dear friends were inducted, along with Jon Fishman from Phish.  I presented Loren Barrigar, and Ron Wray presented Bobby Comstock.  Bob Comstock got me started in music when I was 15 years old, and he was 17.  He had his first hit record (Tennessee Waltz) shortly after.  He played on most of my early sessions, and took me on tour (playing rythmn guitar) twice across the country.  With his band, The Counts, they were great.  They put out over 30 singles in their career.  It's been a long road, but a fast trip.  Loren Barrigar and Bob Comstock, both deserve the SAMMY Hall of Fame award.

You can listen to the music of Bobby Comstock and the Counts and Rick Gravelding (he had a band under the name of Rick Jackson and the Lancers) by going to our Rocl 'N Roll! webpage, scrolling down and clicking on songs.  Be sure to have your computer speakers on or be wearing your headphones.  ENJOY!

Millie's New Book
Millie's New Book

Millie PirkoTriff has written another book that was just released. It's available on Amazon.com for $13.95. The title is "When God Has Left the Building." It's the story of the rise and fall of a fictional therapeutic boarding school for at risk teenagers. Although the school and the characters in this book are fictional, Millie based much of the story on her own experiences at the therapeutic boarding school where she served as the registrar for around 14  years.

Pat Scott Dean, Winter Solstice Queen

Pat Scott Dean was chosen Winter Solstice Queen at Oak Hill nursing home.  She looks like she’s probably yelling at the person taking the pictures but the folks said she really did have fun with the kids that came to the event. When her daughter, Melissa, saw her that night she asked if Pat had fun and she said “OH YES!” with a big smile.
